Frances Lewis contemporary painter, printmaker and author of print guides.

Frances Lewis has been working as an artist and expressionist painter and printmaker at her studio in South Yorkshire since graduating in 2004 with a BA in Fine art, Painting and Printmaking from Sheffield Hallam.

Throughout her lifelong vocation to art, she has painted prolifically using watercolour, gouache and acrylic techniques. Redkite press is her painting and printmaking studio where she also writes her printmaking guides.

Frances Lewis produces art that originates from her subconscious mind to some degree or another, often described as ‘dream like’ themes return the female form, animals and mythical creatures.

The ‘process’ of painting and printmaking has always been a means to channel her creativity to make solid the illusive nature of her narrative-based work and enabling her to share the importance of process lead work in her practice.

Working from the imagination and visual memory, she sketches ideas in seconds, some are reworked and retold some are disregarded.

In 2022 she gained an Arts council award in Developing Your Creative Practice and completed training in InDesign, photoshop and illustrator to gain the skills to make her own printmaking guides now she is reaching a wider audience as an author of printmaking guide books.
